Golden Globe Nominations

Ok, so The Golden Globes have announced their nominees and I thought I would share what insight I could on them (The cinema is really quite expensive so I’ve not seen some of these)

Here we go.

Best Picture

  • Boyhood – Um, not seen it, looks good though.
  • Foxcatcher – Also not seen it, not even seen a trailer.
  • The Imitation Game – Not seen it, Looks good though.
  • Selma – Not seen this one. Might be good.
  • The Theory of Everything – Not see this. Looks good though.

That went well.

Best Actress

  • Julianne Moore (Still Alice) – Not seen it, but Julianne Moore is always fantastic.
  • Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) – Not seen it.
  • Reese Witherspoon (Wild) – Not seen it.
  • Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) – Not seen it.
  • Jennifer Aniston (Cake) – Not seen it.

I think that went even better you know.

Best Actor

  • Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything) – Not seen it, but he looks superb.
  • Steve Carell (Foxcatcher) – Wait, Steve Carell? It’s probably pretty good if he’s nominated, considering he is usually the same.
  • Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game) – Not seen it, but the Crumblepatch is an incredible actor.
  • David Oyelowo (Selma) – Not seen it.
  • Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler) – Not seen it, but again Jake is a fantastic actor.

Wow, what a fantastic post this is turning out to be.

Best film (Musical or Comedy)

  • Into the Woods – Not seen it, looks really good though.
  • Birdman – Not seen it, looks really good though.
  • The Grand Budapest Hotel – I’ve seen this one! And I absolutely adore it. 10/10 incredible film.
  • St Vincent – Not seen it, but really it doesn’t look that interesting, but Bill Murray is always funny so I dunno.
  • Pride – Not seen it, looks really good though.

I saw one of these ones!

Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy

  • Julianne Moore (Maps to the Stars) – Whoah steady on there Golden Globes, Julianne Moore again! Brilliant as she is, I doubt she will win two awards, but then the Golden Globes do what they like so I dunno.
  • Amy Adams (Big Eyes) – Not seen it, Amy Adams is very good though.
  • Emily Blunt (Into the Woods) – Not seen it.
  • Helen Mirren (The Hundred Foot Journey) – Not seen it. But Helen Mirren seems to get nominated for something like every year.
  • Quevenzhane Wallis (Annie) – Not seen it, but I have heard only good things.

Wow. Insightful.

Best Actor in a Musical/Comedy

  • Michael Keaton (Birdman) – Not seen it, but Michael Keaton is very talented.
  • Bill Murray (St Vincent) – Not seen it, but looks like Bill Murray (while always funny) is playing Bill Murray again, and I’m not sure that warrants an award.
  • Ralph Fiennes (The Grand Budapest Hotel) – Brilliant Actor, and this is a brilliant performance. I’d give him the award.
  • Christoph Waltz (Big Eyes) – Not seen it, looks good though.
  • Joaquin Phoenix (Inherent Vice) – Not seen it, Joaquin Phoenix is incredible though.

So far of every film mentioned, I have seen one. Nice.

Best Animated Film

  • The LEGO Movie – Seen this one! Such an awesome film, this has to win, surely?
  • How to Train Your Dragon 2 – Not seen it. The first one was pretty good though.
  • Big Hero 6 – Not seen it. Looks good though.
  • The Book of Life – Not seen it. Actually I don’t know anything about it at all.
  • The Boxtrolls – Not seen it. It’s got a brilliant cast though.

Ayyyy, that’s another film I’ve seen. Well done me.

Best Foreign Language Film

  • Ida – Not seen it. Looks good though.
  • Force Majeure – Not seen it.
  • Gett: The Trial of Viviane Amsalem – Not seen it.
  • Tangerines – Not seen it.
  • Leviathan – Not seen it. But it looks fantastic.

If you are still reading at this point. You have my sympathies.

Best Director

  • Ava DuVernay (Selma) – Not seen it.
  • Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel) – I think that it is about time Wes won a directing award because he is incredible.
  • Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (Birdman) – Not seen it. Looks fantastic though.
  • David Fincher (Gone Girl) – Not seen it, but Fincher is a very good director.
  • Richard Linklater (Boyhood) – Not seen it, but this is the guy who directed the School of Rock, so I love him already.

Wes Anderson for me.

Best Original Score

  • The Imitation Game – I have not a clue what it sounds like. It’s probably pretty good though like.
  • The Theory of Everything – See above.
  • Gone Girl – Now, this one was done by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross who did the Social Network and the score for that was a masterpiece so.
  • Birdman – See top.
  • Interstellar – Outstanding sweeping Hans Zimmer score.

I don’t think Hans Zimmer will win, he never seems to win.

Well, that was a journey.
